Talk to at least three teachers you look up to and at least three commercial pilots. Ask them and find out what it takes to get certified or qualified to do each. Look at the financial and time and other commitments you'd be making to take either course. (Getting a Bachelor's and Master's degree? Spending years of your life in the military?) Look at the pay and benefits in both lines of work. Look at the stresses and perks of both lifestyles. For example, would you love the school hours and vacation and being able to be there for holidays and find that great for a family?
